An oral account published on Yunnan Agricultural University's industry technology system website introduces him as a former senior agronomist in the Sugarcane Research Office of the Neijiang Agricultural Science Institute. He recalled starting work in 1956, participating in local sugarcane research and extension, and retiring in 1996. He described trials of the Tiancheng series, shipments of seed cane within and beyond Sichuan, and dissemination of cultivation techniques. Such material preserves the daily practice of experiment-station workers and shows that variety extension involves more than breeding alone. The reported high yields and dates of variety completion still require corroboration from contemporary trial reports.
