His author biography in an original 2014 paper identifies him as a senior agronomist and head of the Liucheng Comprehensive Experimental Station of the national sugarcane industry technology system. With Lu Liwei, he analyzed the breeding and extension of Guiliu 1. The paper discusses not only the variety but also limitations such as herbicide sensitivity and smut, making it useful as a complete record of breeding experience.
